Absolutely incredible. All the info you need and more!
Reviewer: A reader from Virginia; April 24, 2003
Guidebooks are usually so impersonal. You get them for all the great info they have - landmarks, hiking trails, available accommodations - but don't really expect creativity, polls of local kids, and poems. This guidebook *IS* a great guidebook, in that it contains all the usual info/facts/contact numbers you'd want and expect. But it goes so much further, and gives you such a feel for the islands, in such a creative way. They poll the locals on the best restaurants. You can bet where I'll be eating - at the locals' favorite. They poll local kids on topics so you know what your kids will want to do. They have essays and poems from locals to impart real native flavor. Not only has this book given me all I could want on Sanibel/Captiva, it's the best written and most interesting guidebook I've ever seen!

Fantastic guide to the islands!

I love this book! My family is planning a second visit to Sanibel this summer, and we have gotten so much helpful information from this guide. The information and reviews are quite thorough; the pictures are awesome! We can't wait to go back to the Islands and try out some new sights, restaurants, and much more. Thank you, Neal Family!

So good!

I was on Sanibel last week and met the authors at the Bean, where we purchased one book for a friend. When I got home I realized the book was so good I wanted one for my sister as well!

Great ideas

We just returned from Sanibel. I purchased this book on the island and started reading it when I got home. I only wish that we had purchased the book sooner for all of the great ideas it has listed.

An extremely informative and enjoyable read

It was good to find out about which restaurants are child friendly, as we have a 2-year-old daughter who, as you can imagine, keeps us on our toes.

Magnificent!

This book was my secret to planning my family's first trip to Sanibel. I would have been completely lost without it! We have already recommended it to several friends and family members who are now planning their trip to the island. Very informative, beautiful pictures, easy to read... they even give you a few itineraries of things to do depending on your length of stay! You won't be disappointed!

Complete, well-organized, excellent photos

Our family has been visiting Sanibel and Captiva for more than 30 years, and this book is the most complete guide we can imagine. The writing is so good (I'm a freelance writer myself), the information is well-organized, and the photography is excellent. We bought it while we were vacationing on Captiva and have already recommended it to cousins and aunts and uncles who also fish and shell there.

Definitely recommend

I have read every book on Sanibel and the Gulf Coast that I have been able to get my hands on over the last four years. This book is by far the best, most comprehensive, and thorough book on Sanibel and Captiva that I have found. The chapters are easy to read and very informative. The pictures are beautiful, and I love the personal touches with the photographs of people who live and visit Sanibel. I wish I would have had this book before we went to Sanibel the first time! I definitely recommend it to all who will be visiting Sanibel in the future.

Fantastic!

We are really enjoying this book. There's so much information, and I love the photos. My husband and I have never been to Sanibel or Captiva (we're planning a trip later this year), but reading about the islands is relaxing and helps us escape our stressful jobs.

The best
Reviewer: David Miller, Grantham, N.H.; March 20, 2002
This is by far the best book for anyone who wants to or has visited Sanibel and Captiva. I've been going to the islands for years and thought I knew a lot but after reading this book I can't wait to go back again for all the great things I've been missing. The most amazing thing about this book is the pictures and identifiers for all the wildlife and shells you can find on the islands. This is the most complete book and the only one you'll ever need to enjoy Sanibel and Captiva to the fullest.

Wonderful!

I got this book today. It is wonderful!! I've been vacationing in the Sanibel and Captiva area every January for four years now and I'm already planning for January 2003.

Answers a lot of questions

The true flavor of Sanibel and Captiva
Reviewer: Darla Letourneau, Sanibel Island, Fla.; February 18, 2002
This is a GREAT book! It's a real help not just to the visitors, but to the residents (like myself). I actually discovered a couple of trails on Sanibel that I hadn't heard of. The photos are great, I really enjoyed the poems by local writers, and the shopping & resource list was helpful as a resident. The reviews of the restaurants were on the mark. The book is a true flavor of Sanibel & Captiva without the PR that comes with each place marketing itself. It's so refreshing to have this kind of guide.
